A New Method for Determining Compound Specific Carbon Isotope of Chlorinated Solvents in Porewater

Abstract A new method for the extraction of chlorinated solvents (CSs) from porewater with dimethylacetamide (DMA) used as a solvent and determination δ 13 C by gas chromatography‐isotope ratio mass spectrometry (GC‐IRMS) solid‐phase microextraction (SPME) are presented. This was chloroethenes chloromethanes. The CSs DMA led to minimal loss compounds. accuracy verified analysis pure injected compounds using elemental analyzer—isotope (EA‐IRMS). It has been effectively applied in study area saturated soil samples pollutant source zone perchloroethylene (PCE) trichloroethylene (TCE). limit quantification 0.034 μg/g PCE TCE 10–20 g sample. allows compound‐specific isotope porewater, which can be beneficial sites where identification contamination sources behavior contaminants not clear.
